Two men have been arrested after an attempted robbery at a Post Office in Aberdeen.

One woman was injured during the incident, which happened shortly before 1pm on Wednesday at Sclattie Park Post Office in Bucksburn.

Enquiries into the incident are continuing and anyone with information is urged to contact police.

Detective inspector Stewart Drummond said: "This was a horrific incident and I'd like to thank the members of staff at the Post Office and the public for their assistance so far.

"Two men were in the area of the shops at the time and would have been aware of the incident unfolding. I am urging these two witnesses to come forward to speak to us as they may have vital information that could assist with our investigation.

"Our enquiries are continuing and I would urge anyone who was in the Sclattie Park or Fairies Knowe area of Bucksburn prior to or after the incident and saw anything suspicious to come forward.

"In particular I'm keen to hear from anyone who saw two men running away from the area of Sclattie Park to speak to us."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
