Eight Scouts have been sent home from a camping event after two teenagers were charged with drugs offences.

The two-week Blair Atholl Jamborette is under way in Perthshire, with more than 1000 Scouts from around the world participating.

Police were called to the event on Thursday, reportedly over a cannabis-related offence.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A 17-year-old male was charged and given a recorded police warning for possession of controlled drugs.

"A 16-year-old male was charged and is to be reported for supplying controlled drugs."

A spokeswoman for Scouts Scotland confirmed eight Scouts had been sent home.

"Scouts Scotland has a zero-tolerance policy on narcotics use and this matter has been reported to Police Scotland," she added.
