A search has been launched for a missing pug following reports of a man carrying a lifeless dog in Dundee.

Pixie disappeared from a house on Park Avenue after 3pm on Monday, July 16.

Numerous sightings have been made of a man carrying a small dog resembling the pug in the Stobswell and Waterfront areas. The dog appeared to be lifeless or ill.

Officers believe the man is in his mid 30s to 40s and was wearing a red t-shirt and blue shorts, possibly with stripes down the side.

He was seen shortly before 6pm near the bottom of Crichton Street.

Meanwhile, reports were also made of a man possibly mistreating a dog in Baxter Park at around the same time.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We have already received a large amount of relevant information from the public regarding this incident and are currently following a positive line of enquiry.

"We have also attempted to contact a number of witnesses who have been identified to us, but have not been able to get in touch with them."
