A woman has died after being rescued from the sea at a harbour in Moray.

The alarm was raised by a member of the local coastguard team at Buckie Harbour at around 7pm on Monday.

The 61-year-old woman was pulled from the water and flown by helicopter to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where she later died.

The RNLI’s Buckie lifeboat also participated in the rescue.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed the woman had died but said there were no suspicious circumstances.
