A group of sports cars were spotted driving dangerously in convoy around Scotland over the weekend.

The gang were recorded travelling at more than 140mph on the A74 in Dumfries and Galloway on Sunday afternoon.

The cars involved were a blue BMW M6, an orange Nissan GTR, a red Audi S5 and a grey Porsche GT3.

Traffic patrol officers were unable to stop them and police are now investigating.

Various reports of dangerous driving were also made about four sports cars seen on the A835 between Ullapool and Contin between 2.30pm and 3.25pm on Saturday.

Police Scotland described them as a blue BMW M6, an orange Nissan GTR and another two unidentified sports cars, black and blue.

It is now believed they are connected to the group of vehicles which were driving dangerously on Sunday.

Constable Alasdair Mackay, of the Road Policing Unit in Dingwall, said: "We have various reports of the inappropriate speed and dangerous manner in which these cars were being driven.

"It is suspected they were travelling in convoy throughout the north of Scotland.

"We are asking anyone who believes they may have seen these vehicles or has dashcam footage of them to get in touch."
