A man has died and four others are being treated after an incident on board a boat at Fraserburgh harbour.

Emergency services were called at 2pm on Tuesday after reports came in of three men who had fallen ill aboard the Sunbeam.

Medics began to treat the men but one died shortly after.

Four other men continue to receive treatment in hospital. Their conditions are not thought to be life-threatening.

A police spokesman said the deceased man's next of kin had been informed.

Inspector Nick Thom, from Police Scotland, said: "Our thoughts are with this man's family at this very sad time.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch."
