Marine accident investigators have been called after a man died and four others were injured in an incident on a boat.

Emergency services were called to the Sunbeam at Fraserburgh Harbour at 2pm on Tuesday.

A man was pronounced dead on board while another four were taken to hospital. Their conditions are not life-threatening.

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has been drafted in as a probe into what caused the incident is being carried out.

A MAIB spokesman said: "We've started an investigation into yesterday's fatal accident on board the fishing vessel Sunbeam (FR487) at Fraserburgh, Scotland."

Inspector Nick Thom said: "Our thoughts are with this man's family at this very sad time.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch."
