A five-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after being crushed by a tractor.

The incident happened on a farm at New Aberdour in Aberdeenshire.

The youngster was taken to the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital shortly before 7pm on Thursday.

It is understood he suffered serious leg and hand injuries which are not life-threatening.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We received a call at 6.57pm on Thursday to attend an incident on a farm at New Aberdour.

"We dispatched three ambulances and the coastguard helicopter to the scene and one child was airlifted to the Children's hospital at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary."
