A driver has been caught doing 75mph past a primary school and nursery.

A blue Audi A3 was clocked speeding in the 20mph zone near Carmyllie Primary School in Angus.

The driver has been charged with dangerous driving following the incident at 3.40pm on Wednesday.

Inspector Ray Cuthill said the outcome could have been "much, much worse".

He said: "To drive in such a manner and at such speeds within a built up area is completely unacceptable.

"It is even worse that a driver would choose to drive at a speed approaching four times the speed limit past a primary school and nursery just as the children have finished for the day.

"Thankfully nobody was hurt as a result of the driver's actions but it is clear that the outcome could have been much, much worse."
