Jewellery and valuables worth £30,000 have been stolen from a home in Aberdeenshire.

Items with "great sentimental value", including gold rings, bracelets, watches and necklaces, were taken.

The theft occurred on Sandyhill Road, Banff, at some point between 8am and 6pm on Wednesday, October 3.

Police have now appealed to trace a van driver who was in the area at the time of the incident.

PC Sean Horne said: "This incident occurred during daylight hours on a fairly busy road in Banff.

"I am keen to speak to anyone who saw anything unusual or suspicious in the area of Sandyhill Road last Wednesday.

"A white van was seen in the area at the time and the driver may have information that could be useful to us.

"The owners are understandably upset by this incident, especially as a number of items taken held great sentimental value."
