A woman has been left injured after she was attacked by a man demanding money in a local park.

The 47-year-old was walking in Doocot Park, Elgin when she was approached by the man near New Elgin Road at around 7pm on Thursday.

The suspected demanded items from her before running off in the direction of North Street empty handed.

The victim suffered minor injuries and has been left badly shaken.

Officers investigating the incident have released a description of the man involved.

He is described as white, between 20-25 years old, around 6ft with short dark hair and gaunt features.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a light coloured short sleeve t-shirt, light jeans and dark trainers.

Detective Constable Sarah Dawson, "I am appealing for anyone who was in the area of Doocot Park at the time and saw the suspect or anyone who recognises his description to contact Police. Following the incident the suspect ran off through the park in the direction of North Street."
