A couple were threatened with a weapon before having their house raided.

The robbery happened on Strathyre Avenue in Dundee at 7.20pm on Wednesday.

Two men entered the house before demanding money while brandishing a weapon.

They stole jewellery, cash and a car during the raid.

The two men were 5ft 8in, slim and had dark hair.

Detective inspector Gavin McKinlay said the couple were left "extremely shocked" following the robbery.

He said: "Thankfully, the couple were unhurt but extremely shocked by the incident.

"We are keen to trace two men in connection with the robbery.

"They made off with ladies and gents jewellery, cash, currency and a black Vauxhall Corsa with the registration SG13 ZLZ. ​

"Officers are carrying out door to door enquiries and a review of CCTV footage as part of the investigation.

"We believe there is no wider risk to the public but there will be a continued presence in the area while enquiries are ongoing."
