Armed police carried out an early morning raid at a Dundee property over concern for a man's wellbeing.

Specialist officers descended on Lochee Road just after 3am on Saturday and the area remained closed until mid-morning while police attended the incident.

Emergency crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Scottish Ambulance Service were also in attendance to provide support during the incident.

The man is now being cared for in police custody.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "We attended the scene after receiving reports of concern for a male.

"He has now been traced safe and well and is in police custody.

"Armed officers were in attendance, but this was mostly to ensure the safety of the wider public."
