A woman has been charged after heroin was found in Moray.

The discovery was made by local officers following a search warrant in New Elgin on Saturday.

Heroin with an estimated street value of £50,000 was recovered.

A 55-year-old woman is expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Monday.

PC Steve Borzoni said: "The supply of illegal drugs has a devastating impact upon our communities.

"We are committed to seizing every opportunity to detect and disrupt the activities of those intent on supplying drugs.

"This recovery would not have been possible without the support of the local community. I continue to encourage the public to pass information to police via 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, and help us end the misery and suffering caused by illicit drug supply."
