A man tried to force himself into a woman's car after she stopped to offer him help following a crash.

The alert happened on the A90 at Glendoick, Perth, at 7.50pm on Monday.

Police said a 40-year-old man had been charged with various road traffic offences.

He is expected to appear at Perth Sheriff Court later on Tuesday.

In a statement, Police Scotland said: "Police Scotland can confirm that a 40-year-old man has been charged with various road traffic offences after a road traffic collision on A90 at Glendoick at 7.50pm yesterday evening.

"He is expected to appear at Perth Sheriff Court today.

"It is understood the man got into a car belonging to a female motorist who had stopped to assist him.

"We are still appealing for that woman to come forward or if you were passing at the time of the incident, we ask that you contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting 3601 or 3641 of 3 December.
