The 16-year-old has been missing since November sparking a huge search in the Aberdeen area.
A body has been found in the search for missing teenager Liam Smith in Aberdeen.
The 16-year-old, who went missing over four months ago, was last seen boarding a 202 Stagecoach at Union Square bus station on November 17.
Police have now confirmed that a body has been in found in a remote wooded area south of Banchory in Aberdeenshire.
Officers leading the search confirmed that the body was found by a member of the public at around 3pm on Friday.
Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of 16-year-old Liam Smith has been notified.
Enquiries are ongoing and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
