An 11-year-old boy has been seriously injured after being hit by a van on a road in Dundee.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Charleston Drive around 3.30pm on Monday.

The child was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment, where his condition is currently unknown.

Charleston Drive was closed between Spey Drive and Earn Crescent following the incident.

A police spokesman said: "About 3.30pm, Monday 25th March 2019, Police Scotland along with other emergency services attended Charleston Drive, Dundee near to Etive Gardens, following the report of a road traffic collision between a pedestrian and a Ford van.

"An 11-year-old schoolboy suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to Ninewells Hospital by ambulance. The driver of the van was uninjured.

"Police Scotland crash investigators were in attendance and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
