A man has died after a shooting at an estate in Perthshire.

Emergency services were called to the Rossie Estate near Carse of Gowrie on Monday at around 11.30am.

Police investigating said the incident it was contained to the immediate area and reassured the public there was no ongoing threat.

Officers confirmed the man's next of kin have been informed.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We can confirm a man has died following an incident near Kinnaird, Carse of Gowrie on Monday March 25.

"There was no threat to the public and the incident was contained to the immediate area.

"Enquiries are at an early stage and are continuing, and his next of kin have been informed."

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 11.30am to attend an incident at the Rossie Estate.

"We dispatched a rapid response unit, an ambulance crew, a trauma team and a manager to the scene."
