A senior Aberdeen City Council director has resigned from his £115,000 a year role.

The director of commissioning Frank McGhee was suspended earlier this month pending a full investigation by the local authority.

Mr McGhee, who was responsible for ensuring services provided by the council met local authority priorities, had been in the post since it was formed as part of a restructure in December 2017.

He was one of four directors working underneath chief executive Angela Scott.

On Wednesday a council spokesperson confirmed Mr McGhee has now stood down, but refused to confirm the reasons behind the suspension and whether he resigned amid or at the conclusion of an investigation.

They said: "The council's director of commissioning Frank McGhee has resigned from his position at Aberdeen City Council."
