Abandoned rabbit found dumped inside plastic bag in ditch
Bernie the mini lop was rescued after being discovered by a member of the public in Aberdeenshire.
An animal welfare charity has rescued a rabbit after it was abandoned in a plastic bag in a ditch in Aberdeenshire.
The mini lop was discovered by a member of the public in the Mintlaw area on Tuesday.
Graeme Innes, manager of the Scottish SPCA's animal rescue and rehoming centre in Aberdeen, said: "It's very lucky a member of the public found this rabbit."
"The mini lop-type rabbit was found in a plastic bag in a ditch, so could have easily been missed."
The rabbit - which has been named Bernie - had an identification ring but part of the code was illegible.
