The next interview in my series of conversations with party leaders is David Coburn.

The leader of Ukip in Scotland sat down with me to talk about health, education and, yes, you guessed it, the European Union. I understand it was one of two interviews he's done in his entire career with someone other than BuzzFeed's Jamie Ross.

I didn't even give him a hard time over his Periscope protest against STV for not including him in our live leaders' debate. Coburn registered his anger on the social video platform but ran into difficulty when users tricked him into thinking his microphone was off.

My interview will be published in full on Saturday. First up, though, Coburn's answers to a quick-fire quiz, with musical interlude included.

Stephen Daisley (SD): Is your microphone on?

David Coburn (DC): [shouts] Can you hear me, Scotland?!

SD: Favourite European bureaucrat?

DC: Oh... Jean-Claude Juncker. He's absolutely wonderful. He drinks coffee like a maniac and he likes a good evening out. He's a very convivial fellow. Totally disagree with his politics but great fun.

SD: Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders?

DC: The Devil and the deep blue sea! But the alternative might be even more frightening.

SD: Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump?

DC: Oh God... Dr Strangelove!

SD: Out of the EU with uncontrolled immigration or in the EU with restrictions on borders?

DC: I'm for Brexit. Whatever happens. We have to leave the European Union. It is not democratic. It has seized our freedom.

SD: Would the Great British Bake Off be even greater if we left the EU?

DC: I don't watch it. I'm on a diet!

SD: Is there anything about Brussels you like? Brussels pate? Brussels sprouts?

DC: Oh, I have no objection to Belgium. I must say that Brussels itself is not a very nice place but the rest of Belgium... Ghent's a beautiful city but Brussels is pretty ugly.

SD: Hayek or Friedman?

DC: Friedman.

SD: Kipper the fish or Kipper, Kipper the dog with the slipper?

DC: Kipper the fish, I think. I don't know what the other one is.

SD: It's a children's TV show.

DC: Sorry, I don't get to see TV. Except when it's Newsnight.

SD: Jamie Ross writes about you a lot. Is this like Mili-fandom? "Coburn-fandom"? Or is Jamie a Ukip plant?

DC: [giggles] Jamie is a perceptive and clever young journalist. [giggles]

SD: Can you hum the next line of this tune?

[hums Beethoven's 'Ode to Joy', the anthem of the European Union] Do-do do-do do-do-do-do doo-do-do-do-doo-do-doo...

DC: [hums] Dah-dah dah-dah dah-dah-dah-dah dah dah-dah dah-dah dah dah.

SD: Fantastic.

DC: It's abused! Abused by the European Union! I used to love that tune, now I don't!

Stephen Daisley is STV's digital politics and comment editor. He really did hum 'Ode to Joy' to David Coburn. You can contact him at stephen.daisley@stv.tv.
