Health secretary Jeremy Hunt has replaced Boris Johnson as foreign secretary, Downing Street has announced.

It follows the resignation of Mr Johnson amid a row over Theresa May's Brexit policy.

Mr Johnson's announcement on Monday came after the resignation of Brexit secretary David Davis on Sunday night.

David stepped down over the UK Government's Brexit plans, leaving the Prime Minister facing a possible leadership challenge.

A statement from Downing Street said: "The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt as secretary of state for foreign and Commonwealth affairs."

As part of Theresa May's reshuffle, culture secretary Matt Hancock has replaced Mr Hunt as health secretary, and attorney general Jeremy Wright is the new culture secretary.
