Organisers believe around 16,000 supporters of Scottish independence have attended a march in Dundee.

The demonstration, organised by the All Under One Banner (AUOB) group, is thought to be the largest of its kind seen in the Tayside region.

Supporters gathered in Baxter Park and marched into city centre through Marketgait and past Dundee University to finish up at Magdalen Green.

There, organisers announced to the assembled crowd their estimate of 16,000 marchers.

Police Scotland does not yet have its own estimated figure of the number in attendance.

Meanwhile in Edinburgh, hundreds of people attended a rally in Festival Square calling for a People's Vote on Brexit.

Anti-Brexit campaigners say the country should have a say on the government's final Brexit deal for when the UK leaves the European Union next March.

AUOB has organised a series of marches this year to campaign for Scottish independence, in Glasgow, Dumfries, Stirling and Inverness, bringing tens of thousands out into the streets.

The next one planned is in Edinburgh in October.
