Alex Salmond reveals Star Trek obsession
The First Minister spoke of his love of the sci-fi series in an interview.
Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond revealed he is an "obsessive" fan of the cult sci-fi series Star Trek.
As well as being an avid viewer of the show, Mr Salmond said Dannii Minogue was his favourite X Factor judge and revealed he is a fan of the US political drama The West Wing.
The SNP leader was quizzed on his TV and radio choices in the latest edition of the Radio Times and told the magazine: "I am an obsessive Trekkie."
Mr Salmond added: "Voyager was my favourite, that and first series Star Trek. I've seen them all so many times. I've seen the new Star Trek film, too."
He also revealed a fondness for detective dramas featuring Agatha Christie's famous Miss Marple character, stating: "I do like Miss Marple, I bet you didn't know that."
When asked who his favourite interviewer was from John Humphrys, Jeremy Paxman, Fern Britton and Andrew Marr, the First Minister opted for Mr Paxman.
When asked to pick a soap opera from Coronation Street, EastEnders, The Archers and The Bill, he chose the long-running radio series.
Mr Salmond opted for the US political drama The West Wing ahead of Friends, Sex And The City and Band Of Brothers.
He chose TV chef Nigella Lawson - the daughter of former Tory Chancellor Nigel Lawson - ahead of Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.
And he preferred David Tennant's Doctor Who over newcomer Matt Smith, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker.
When it came to music, the First Minister picked The Beatles ahead of the Rolling Stones, Blur over their Britpop rivals Oasis, The Jam ahead of punk rockers the Sex Pistols and Lady Gaga rather than Madonna.
