Will Edinburgh's trams be worth the wait - and the £200m overspend?
Professor Iain Docherty from Glasgow University joined Scotland Tonight on Tuesday.
The Edinburgh trams project will be running in the city by May 2014.
On Tuesday, the City of Edinburgh Council announced passengers would be able to use the service by the end of May next year, two months ahead of the revised schedule.
The exact date of the first day of service will be announced in January and councillors hope it can be even earlier.
The project has been hampered by disputes between the council and contractors which led to work halting for a year.
The scheme has also gone over the original budget by £200m and is five years late.
Professor Iain Docherty from Glasgow University joined Scotland Tonight on Tuesday to discuss the impact of the scheme's woes on Scotland's reputation for infrastructure projects.
