Burned sailor rows himself ashore and to pub after blast on yacht
The sailor made his way to a pub before being taken to hospital following the blast off the island of Seil.
A yachtsman rowed himself ashore in a dinghy and then went to a pub for help after he was burned in an explosion.
The man was taken to hospital in Oban following the blast off the island of Seil on Thursday morning.
He was later transferred to Glasgow for treatment from Lorn and Islands District General Hospital.
The Oban lifeboat crew were dispatched to ensure the yacht was safe but were unable to establish the cause of the explosion.
A spokesman for Oban lifeboat said: “The explosion happened on the west side of the isle of Seil. The man rowed himself to shore in a dinghy and went to a local pub. From there he went hospital and Oban and later made his own way to Glasgow.
“Our boat was used to go and check there was nobody else aboard the yacht.”
