Pensioner dies after suffering serious burns in flat fire

A man has died after a fire in his flat in Edinburgh.
The 69-year-old was rescued from the blaze at his house in Thorntree Street in the Leith area of the city on Tuesday night.
Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service went to the supported accommodation block at around 7.30pm after an automatic fire alarm went off.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued the resident who had suffered serious burns in the blaze.
He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment but later died from his injuries.
Fire crews managed to get the blaze under control and all other residents were accounted for.
An investigation is underway to find out the cause of the fire.
