Man dies after being hit by a train
Man hit on railway tracks is believed to have been a 64-year old local, but police are yet to formally identify him.
A man died after walking onto a railway line and being hit by a passenger train in Moray.
The man was struck by the morning Montrose to Inverness service at around 9.20am on Saturday.
British Transport Police said the incident took place around half a mile north of the Brodie level crossing in Forres. However, they denied reports the death had occurred following a level crossing accident.
The man is yet to be formally identified, however, officers believe he was a 64-year-old local man.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
A British Transport Police investigation is under way and officers have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
