Experienced cyclist dies after accident during biking event in Perthshire
A 50-year-old man from Stirlingshire was airlifted to hospital after he sustained serious injuries in the accident.
A cyclist has died after sustaining head injuries while taking part in a biking event in Perthshire.
John Yates, of Lampson Road, Killearn, in Stirlingshire, fell from his bike at around 11.50am on Sunday.
He was travelling with a group of abaout 20 cyclists on the B827 south of Comrie village when the incident occurred.
Mr Yates was participating in an annual organised cycling event that runs from Strathblane into the Stirling and Dunblane area and on to Braco, Comrie and Callander and then back to where the event began.
The 50-year-old experienced cyclist was airlifted to Glasgow's Southern General Hospital after the accident.
He died of his injuries later that day.
A Tayside Police spokesman said: "There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident and, as with all sudden deaths, a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal."
