Body found in park following search for missing man identified
The body of a man found at Caird Park, Dundee, has been identified as missing Derek Dignan, 49.
The body of a man found at Caird Park, Dundee, has been formally identified as a missing man.
Police officers had been searching for Derek Dignan, 49, who lived at Provost Road in the city, since he was reported missing on Tuesday.
Tayside Police officers along with volunteers carried out an extensive search of the areas where he was thought to have been including Caird Park, Fairmuir and Fintry in Dundee. On Wednesday afternoon the force confirmed that a body had been found.
He was later formally identified.
A spokeswoman for Tayside Police said: "Tayside Police can confirm that the body of a man found in Caird Park, Dundee, has been formally identified.
"He has been named as 49-year-old missing person Derek Dignan, of Provost Road, Dundee.
"There are no apparent suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and as with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
