The Christmas light switch on in Glasgow received requests for more than 266,000 tickets with just 12,000 being successful.
Demand for this year's festive switch on in Scotland's biggest city was massive with 54,119 applications for 266,134 tickets.
The council received enough applications to fill George Square 20 times over with people finding out if they were successful on Monday via email.
Lord Provost of Glasgow, councillor Sadie Docherty said: "We know how popular the Glasgow Christmas Lights Switch On is but due to the capacity of George Square we can’t come close to getting everyone who wants to attend in to the event.
"This year we have had enough applications to fill George Square more than 20 times over so I hope that all those who were lucky enough to receive tickets in the ballot will come along on the night.
"It promises to be a fantastic way to start the countdown to the festive celebrations and the start of Glasgow Loves Christmas."
Around 4.4% of the overall applicants were successful with 93% of the tickets going to Glasgow addresses.
In total, 41,985 applications were received from Glasgow postcodes and 12,134 were received from outside the city boundaries.
The level of unique applications in 2015 was slightly higher than in 2014 although the total number of tickets requested fell slightly. On average, 4.9 tickets were requested per application.
Entry to the event on Sunday November 15 is by ticket only with any unclaimed or returned tickets going to people who have already entered the ballot.
Each ticket permits access for one person only and all adults and children of all ages must have a ticket to gain access to George Square.
