Two young girls who disappeared from a retail park at the weekend have been found safe and well.

A hunt was launched for Demi-Lee Parker, 12, and Leah Petrie, 13, who were last seen at the Phoenix Retail Park in Paisley, Renfrewshire, around 5pm on Sunday.

Police appealed to the public and launched a major search for the youngsters after they were reported missing.

Officers said on Tuesday the girls were traced safe and well and returned home.

A statement from Police Scotland said: "With reference to our previous appeal regarding the whereabouts of two girls, Demi-Lee Parker, 12, and Leah Petrie, 13, from Greenock Road in Paisley, who went missing from Phoenix Retail Park, Paisley, on Sunday: please note that both returned safe and well this afternoon. Thank you for your assistance."
