A man was taken to hospital after he was attacked by a gang who then fled in a car.

The 23-year-old victim was walking with two other men in Glasgow city centre in the early hours of Sunday when the were confronted by three other men.

He was attacked and repeatedly kicked on West Regent Street near to Blythswood Square at around 4am by two of the three men who then ran off with the other man.

They were last seen within a small light coloured car driven by a woman east bound along West Regent Street.

The 23-year-old man was treated at Glasgow Royal Infirmary for a facial injury. The two men he was with were uninjured and managed to run off.

The first suspect is described as white, in his mid 20s, 6ft tall, large build, short dark hair and was wearing dark clothing.

The second suspect is described as white, in his mid 20s, 6ft tall, medium build and was wearing grey coloured clothing. There is no description for the other man or the woman.

Detective constable Vikki Reid said: "At this time we have not established a motive for this attack and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police immediately.

"I’m particularly anxious to speak to the driver and any passengers of a dark coloured private hire vehicle that was seen in the vicinity at the time the assault took place.”
