A hunt has been launched for a driver after he crashed his Audi into a wall.

The red Audi A3 careered into a wall in the village of Twechar, East Dunbartonshire, near to a canal at the Biffa waste site on Friday.

A man who was passing by stopped at the scene on Gavell Road at around 2.45pm to help, however the driver of the Audi ran off towards Queenzieburn.

Constable Joseph Fitzsimmons, of Kirkintilloch Police Office, said: "The driver of the Audi A3 is described as aged between 30 to 35 years and was wearing a light grey hooded top, white T-shirt, jeans and white trainers.

"I’d like to speak to anyone who either witnessed the crash or saw the driver running off towards Queenzieburn afterwards.

"I’d especially like to speak to the man who stopped to assist the driver shortly after the crash and ask that he contacts police immediately."
