Eleven people were rescued from flats in Glasgow following a fire in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The blaze broke out in the basement of a common stairwell next to a pub in Admiral Street, off Paisley Road West around 3am.

Fire crews from Govan and Polmadie rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire using a high pressure hose.

The fire service said 11 people were rescued from the building before the fire was brought under control.

Police Scotland said a family of four people, including a three-year-old boy and a girl aged one, were taken to hospital as a precaution after suffering smoke inhalation.

Police and the fire service are now carrying out a joint investigation into the cause of the blaze and have sealed off the building.
