A woman with a baby was spat on after an argument about her pushchair being knocked over on a train.

The 34-year-old woman was on a train travelling between Exhibition Centre and Central Station in Glasgow when she was targeted by another woman.

Described as "unsavoury" by police, the incident happened on the 2.02pm service between the two stations on Saturday.

It is believed the victim and woman responsible exchanged words after the baby’s pushchair was tipped over.

As the woman left the train at Central station she turned round and spat on the other woman.

Constable Collin Campbell, the officer in charge of the inquiry, is asking anyone who was on the train and witnessed the incident or has information which can help identify the woman involved to contact British Transport Police.

British Transport Police can be contacted on 0800 405040 or by texting 61016. Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
