A man was taken to hospital after an "unprovoked" attack as he entered an indoor ski centre.

The 20-year-old man was walking into Soar at intu in Braehead, Renfrewshire, to go snowboarding when he was assaulted by a man who was hanging about outside along with two women.

He then fled from outside the ski centre, formerly Xscape, without the women in a black private hire car after the attack at around 6.30pm on Wednesday.

The victim was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he was treated for an eye injury.

The suspect is white, in his mid 20s and 6ft tall. He was wearing a black hooded top, black jogging bottoms, a black baseball cap and grey training shoes.

Detective constable Richard Grant, at Johnstone CID, said: "This would appear to be a totally unprovoked attack which has left the young man with a serious eye injury.

"The area around Braehead was very busy at the time the assault took place and I urge anyone who witnessed the incident who hasn't already spoken to police to contact us immediately."

Anyone who has any information that could help us trace the man responsible is asked to contact Johnstone CID via telephone number 101.

Alternatively calls can be made via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where anonymity can be maintained.
