A man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being assaulted in Glasgow.

The incident took place in Rotherwood Avenue in the Knightswood area of the city around 5pm on Tuesday.

A police spokesman said: "At around 5pm police and emergency services responded to a report of a 51-year-old man who had been seriously assaulted.

"He was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth university Hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries. Staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information has been asked contact officers at Drumchapel or Govan on 101."
