The area surrounding a deli where a murdered schoolgirl was last seen alive has been cordoned off by police.

Forensic officers scoured the area around Delicious Deli on Fleming Avenue in Clydebank on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

The body of 15-year-old Paige Doherty was found just off Great Western Road in Clydebank on Monday.

Paige was reported missing by her mother on Saturday after failing to turn up for work at a hairdressers.

Police said she bought a roll and sausage from the deli at about 8.20am on Saturday.

Paige was seen by the newsagent next door who waved to her.

Her bus stop in East Barns Street was a few minutes’ walk away but it is not known if she got there.

Paige's body was found in a wooded area next to Great Western Road around one mile from the deli.

Police confirmed the following day that they are treating the incident as murder.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen Paige after 8.20am on Saturday to come forward.

The schoolgirl's mother, Pamela Munro, has urged the public to come forward to help find her daughter's killer.

She said: "We are absolutely devastated that we have lost our beautiful little girl and would appeal for anyone with information to come forward and bring justice for Paige."

On Wednesday, officers issued a number which will give direct access to the investigation team.

Anyone with information is asked to phone 0141 532 5443/5415, text 07557 540 848 or email OperationTalverton@scotland.pnn.police.uk.
