A teenager has been sexually assaulted while walking in the west end of Glasgow.

The incident occurred on Tuesday around 11.20pm in the Woodlands area at the junction of West End Park Street and West Princes Street.

The 19-year-old was walking in the area when she was approached by the man who then sexually assaulted her, shouting sexual remarks and then ran off.

The man is described as in his 30s, with a heavy build and short to medium brown hair.

At the time of the attack he is thought to have been wearing black, thin-rimmed glasses, a white long-sleeved top and dark coloured trousers.

Detective constable Graham Morrison, from Partick CID, said: “This incident took place in a residential area which is usually quiet at that time on a Tuesday night.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact police.

“Officers are continuing with enquiries, examining CCTV footage and speaking to local residents. Sexual crimes will not be tolerated in our community.

“Anyone with information can contact officers on 101 or alternatively they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
