The hunt is continuing for a man who hurled vile abuse at his teenage victim after sexually assaulting her.

A 19-year-old woman was subjected to a sex attack on Tuesday night in the west end of Glasgow.

The incident happened on Tuesday around 11.20pm in the Woodlands area at the junction of West End Park Street and West Princes Street.

The teenager was walking in the area when she was approached by the man who then sexually assaulted her, shouting sexual remarks and then ran off.

Police launched a public appeal on Thursday and the hunt for the attacker is continuing as officers scour CCTV in the area.

The man is described as in his 30s, with a heavy build and short to medium brown hair.

At the time of the attack he is thought to have been wearing black, thin-rimmed glasses, a white long-sleeved top and dark coloured trousers.

Detective constable Graham Morrison, from Partick CID, said: "This incident took place in a residential area which is usually quiet at that time on a Tuesday night.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact police.

"Officers are continuing with enquiries, examining CCTV footage and speaking to local residents. Sexual crimes will not be tolerated in our community.

"Anyone with information can contact officers on 101 or alternatively they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence."
