Her body was found on two days later on the Monday in a wooded area near Goals Sports Complex just off Great Western Road in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire.

Part of the southbound carriageway of the A82 at Great Western Road was closed when the girl’s body was discovered. Police erected cordons and taped of the area as an investigation was launched.

The stretch was closed between Kilbowie and Drumry roundabouts. One lane was reopened on Thursday. Police Scotland confirmed on Tuesday that both lanes of the southbound carriageway had now been reopened.

Leathem made no plea and was remanded in custody by sheriff William Gallagher following the brief hearing.
