A man has been arrested after a wheelchair user was allegedly attacked and robbed at knifepoint in his own home.

The 55-year-old man, who has one leg, was taken to hospital after answering his door to two people in Prestwick, South Ayrshire, on Sunday.

A four-figure sum of money was allegedly stolen= from the man's home in Wallace Court at around 4.30pm.

Police confirmed that a 45-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "With reference to our statement regarding a 55-year-old man who was allegedly assaulted and robbed within his home in Wallace Court, Prestwick, on Sunday, please note that a 45-year-old man has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with the incident."
