An 18-year-old man is in 'critical condition' in hospital after being struck by a vehicle in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The incident occurred on Wellmeadow Street in Paisley, close to Lady Lane, at around 5am on April 23.

Emergency services attended the scene and the man was then taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital for treatment.

He has since been transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where medical staff confirmed his condition as critical.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

Officers from the Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Divisional Road Policing Unit are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information to contact them at Greenock police office on the non-emergency number, 101.
