The bodies of two women have been discovered in a block of flats in what is potentially being treated as a case of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The discovery was made at around 12pm on Sunday afternoon at a property in Dalserf Court, just off Gallowgate in Glasgow.

The bodies have yet to be formally identified and a report will be handed to the Procurator Fiscal once a post-mortem has been conducted.

The deaths are being treated as unexplained but are not thought to be suspicious at this point in time.

Police Scotland confirmed that one current line of inquiry is carbon monoxide poisoning, and as such nearby residents have been evacuated as a precaution.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were all dispatched to the scene, including a full special operations response team.

Emergency services remain stationed at the scene as inquiries are ongoing.
