Thousands of people donned their tartan at the weekend and trekked 26 miles for charity for this year's Kiltwalk event.

Participants gathered at Hampden Park in the south side of Glasgow on Sunday before setting off on the walk to raise cash for children's charities.

Scots philanthropist and tycoon Sir Tom Hunter was joined on the day by STV weather presenter Sean Batty along with a whole host of Glasgow celebrities.

Sky Sports' host Jim White and Radio Clyde's Cat Harvey took part as well as X Factor finalist Sam Callahan. The 26-mile route began at Hampden Park and finished on the banks of Loch Lomond at Balloch.

The Kiltwalk is supported by Sir Tom and the Hunter foundation, which means every penny raised will go to help Scotland's children.

The Kiltwalk has a three-year partnership deal with the STV Children's Appeal, while the Royal Bank of Scotland and Arnold Clark joined The Kiltwalk as key strategic partners this year.

Arnold Clark will also provide major sponsorship support for this year's Royal Bank of Scotland Kiltwalk events which will see more than 10,000 walkers sign-up with an ambition to raise more than £1.5m for children's charities across Scotland.

Kiltwalk has raised £2.4 million since 2011 and charities who have benefited include the Yorkhill Children's Unit at the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow and Calum's Cabin on Bute which gives respite to the families of terminally ill children.
