Police Scotland has issued a renewed appeal for information in relation to a serious assault in Hamilton on Tuesday night.

A 22-year-old man sustained significant injuries after being assaulted by two men on Marswood Green at around 11pm.

The injured man was taken to Hairmyres Hospital where he was treated for lacerations before being released.

The first suspect is described as white, slim build, around 6ft, with short dark hair. He was wearing blue jeans and possibly a tracksuit top.

The second man is described as white, in his twenties, with a slim build and wearing dark clothing.

Detective Constable Ross Philip of Hamilton Police Office said:

"Enquiries are continuing and I would ask any witnesses who have not yet came forward to police, or anyone with information regarding the two men responsible to contact Police Scotland on 101.

"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
