A man was taken to hospital after he was attacked from behind and hit on the head.

The 23-year-old man was walking along a lane between Esslemont Avenue and Queen Victoria Drive in Scotstoun, Glasgow, at 5.50pm on Sunday when a man approached him from behind and struck him.

The victim was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. He has since been released following treatment.

The suspect is described as white and in his 20s. Officers are currently looking at CCTV and have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Raymond Sagan said: "This is a busy area and there would have been plenty of people around who may have witnessed the attack or who may have information on the suspect.

"I am urging anyone who has was in the area at the time, perhaps driving through or walking in the area to get in touch with us, you could provide us with vital information which could assist our enquiries."
