A flat in North Lanarkshire is set to go under the hammer with a guide price of just £1.

The property, in Upperton, near Airdrie, is described as an "exceptional development opportunity" by its sellers - although they admit it is in need of "significant upgrading".

As the sale will take place at auction, the flat differs from so-called £1 homes - properties across the UK that are sold to first-time-buyers at ultra-low prices as part of plans to spark city regeneration.

Auction House Scotland, which is handling the sale, said the three-bedroom flat said the property is ideally suited as a buy-to-let investment.

The auction will take place in Glasgow on May 18.
