CCTV images of a missing man who disappeared exactly eight years ago have been released by detectives.

David Findlay, who was 69 when he went missing, was last seen exactly eight years ago, on Monday May 5 2008, when he left his home in Cardonald, Glasgow, at 3pm to go for a walk.

A number of unconfirmed sightings were followed up by police in the weeks following his disappearance in areas including Cumbernauld, Coatbridge, Milngavie, Kirkintilloch, Shettleston and Kilsyth. However, all efforts to trace Mr Findlay have so far proved unsuccessful.

His family have not seen or heard from him since and now, eight years on from when Mr Findlay vanished, Police Scotland have released CCTV of him in a Morrisons supermarket in Cardonald on the day he was last seen.

The last confirmed sighting of Mr Findlay was around 6pm on Monday, May 5, 2008, on Sauchiehall Street at West Nile Street in the city centre.

Mr Findlay is described as 5ft 4in tall and of medium build with grey receding hair and gold rimmed glasses.

Chief inspector Simon Jeacocke said: "The missing person inquiry into the disappearance of David Findlay remains live and despite the passage of time, we would continue to urge anyone with any information which might be able to help our investigation to contact police on 101.

"We have been liaising with David's family to keep them updated over the years however we would ask anyone to study the images which have been released of him on CCTV, on the day he disappeared from his home in Cardonald, and contact us immediately."
